UNITY AND RECONCILIATION HAS TAKEN A SATISFAYING STEP IN NYAMASHEKE PARISH

The Cyangugu Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission has set itself the objective of promoting the culture of peace within the Rwandan community, through the program of helping to heal wounds and support those who have suffered from trauma caused by the consequences of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi.

It is with this, in mind that as part of the celebration of the month of reconciliation, the program to prepare the families of survivors and executioners of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi was initiated with the aim of sincerely giving and asking for forgiveness. This is why on September 14, 2021, the CDJP Cyangugu team went to the parish of Nyamasheke in order to assess the level of the process of giving and asking for forgiveness to 8 families of survivors and executioners of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi.

During this session, those families had an opportunity to meet and talk with each other, accompanied by the parish Justice and Peace Commission volunteers and his chaplain, Father Moïse DUSENGE Issaa. The discussions were shared to the participants of this activity and showed that a satisfactory step towards reconciliation has been taken.
